The epidemiology group at Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus is recruiting a Clinical Researcher in the field of Diabetes Epidemiology as per 1 May 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a fixed-term position for 3 years. About the research projectThe position is part of the COMP-DM project, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation as a SUSTAIN grant. The aim of the project is to understand how diabetes and cognitive function are related and interact as co-determinants of multimorbidity. The project is a collaboration between Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus, Aarhus University (Aarhus Business School) and the Research Unit for General Practice and is embedded within the ongoing Helbred I Midt cohort. The current position focuses on tasks related to the setup of cognitive function testing in new waves of the Helbred I Midt cohort and to the analysis of those data in relation with the incidence of multiple chronic conditions (multimorbidity) in the Danish health registers.

Furthermore, the position involves taking an active role in project coordination of the COMP-DM consortium, preparation of manuscripts and presentations summarizing the research findings.Your job responsibilitiesAs researcher assistant in Diabetes Epidemiology your position is primarily research-based but may also involve teaching assignments. You will contribute to the development of the research group through research of high international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with colleagues on your project, where you will receive supervision and guidance. Your main tasks will consist ofResearch of high international quality, including publication.Designing, preparing and executing epidemiological research projects, including data handling, preparation and statistical analyses.Writing manuscripts that report the findings, including coordination with co-authors.Presentation of research results at institutional, national and international research meetings.Active participation in activities in the research group, such as group meetings, code review sessions.Your CompetencesYou have academic qualifications at the PhD, and preferably also at the post-doc level in the area of Human Medicine, Epidemiology, Statistics or Health Sciences, preferably with a focus on chronic diseases (particularly diabetes) multimorbidity, or their major determinants.Experience in planning, setting up and conducting epidemiological research.

Experience in conducting register-based analyses, or analyses based on large cohort studies is a strong assetExperience in working with multi-morbidity as an outcome is a strong assetExperience in independently planning and executing statistical data analysis plans in the R statistical programming language.Strong organizational skills, an analytically creative mindset and an interest in diabetes epidemiologyAs a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment.
